CanadaGAP is a food safety program designed to help implement and maintain effective food safety procedures for companies implementing Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) in their production, storage and packing operations and for repackers and wholesalers implementing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP programs. The program is also designed for fresh produce brokers implementing best practices in supplier management and product traceability.

CanadaGAP has received full Canadian Government Recognition, and is benchmarked to and officially recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). For more information about the program and how to become certified visit www.canadagap.ca.

How to become certified

  1. Obtain a commodity-specific CanadaGAP manual.

  2. Start implementing your program.

  3. Complete the enrolment form, select MSVS as your certification body.

  4. Choose the appropriate certification option:

    • GFSI Recognized​​

      • Production, packing and storage: Option C​

      • Wholesale and Repacking: Option D

      • Group certification: Option B

    • Non-GFSI Recognized:

      • Production, packing and storage: Options A1, A2 or E​

      • Wholesale, repacking and brokerage: Option F​​​​

  5. Send the completed enrolment form and payment of annual program fee to CanadaGAP.

  6. Once enrolled, MSVS will contact you to schedule your audit
